I am dealing with a housing benefit claim from an eligible student whose home address is in this area & they study away from home. Her housing costs in this area are funded during the holidays under section 2 of the above act by Social Services.

She has applied for HB to cover the term time periods. She has no housing costs at her educational establishment.

Does anybody know why Social Services would be responsible for housing costs during holidays only? I cannot pay housing benefit if Social Services are statutorily obliged to cover the students housing costs.

A google search of the above act has not assisted & her Social Worker cannot assist. Does anybody know where I can find a copy of section 2 of the above act?
