Thanks for that but somebody has offered to email it to me. Just as well because I spent about an hour looking for it on bailli without success (a reflection of my IT skills rather than anything else). Think the link was so big it must have given up halfway through!

Thanks for that. I've realised that the case has been misspelt on bailli ("Statford" instead of "Stratford") which is why my earlier searches failed!

I understand that this case was overturned at the Court of Appeal(?). I'll try to locate this on bailli (using a variety of different spellings of Stratford probably) but may come back for further assistance if thst's ok.

I'll try and backtrack from this link to see where I went wrong.

A few months ago, the search mechanism changed on Bailii. Since that change, I have found it is better to go instantly to "Advanced Search".

In the "Enter your query" field, the best way tends to be using muiltiple words, using "and" as the linking mechanism. Also, by enclosing a specific "string", that will further narrow the search.

For example, to find the CA judgement for "White", try:

"white and stratford and "housing benefit""

That gives about 49 "hits". But most of those aren't case citations, so you just end up looking at the remainder. So long as you know that cases going to the next court aren't always with the same lead party, it soon becomes apparent which case is the relevant case.

In "White", it became known as "Addy", but it still appears, albeit at about hit number 45. If you prioritise by date, most CA cases occur within 3 years of the HC case, so will tend to be nearby in the listings.
