Eastenders
Fri 14-Dec-07 12:16 PM

See previous posting on DLA. Billy and Honey are now having probelms getting HB and facing eviction. Bily went to HB section but they need 'references' before they can process claim. I think he may be having problems with verification, he is paid cash in hand by Ian and lost his job as santa's helper. Any advice?

p.s. He has also just got sacked by Ian so presumably will have problems with JSA.

See among others R(I)2/51 R(SB)33/85 CP/3037/2004 to support the priniple that corrooboration is not always needed.

Otherwise try the Bob Geldof method "just give us the f'ing money"

Haven't watched in a while but a colleague tells me she was minded to right to the beeb regarding the flawed details in this storyline: Billy apparently provided all the info required but was told it would be 40 days before a decision is reached: er, Reg 93 anyone? (although to be fair a council ignoring Reg 93 is probably reasonably accurate!!) He was apparently also advised under no circumstances could it be paid to him but only to his landlord (even if he is 8 weeks in arrears it could still be paid to him depending on the circumstances).

I seem to recall equally inaccurate storylines when Keith Miller signed on and when someone-or-other was done for benefit fraud.

Flawed storylines?

No to mention the fact that Kevin Wicks hasn't noticed that his son isn't in prison as he's out dancing every Saturday night!

I thought Billy went in for Housing advice pending his eviction but it does highlight a missed opportunity in that if a positive storyline was shown about someone needing and getting Housing Benefit it might encourage more people to claim.

(all us LA's then have to do is make sure they get it when they do)
