See CIB/14499/1996, where the Commissioner interpreted the use of aids as meaning "if the aid in question is generally worn by people in the claimant's situation acting reasonably." The effect of this is tht if a person would be able to see perfectly well wearing glasses but unreasonably refuses to, they score no points. The case was on hearing aids, but the same applies. It is in fact much more likely that a person will have a good reason not to wear hearing aids, as they can be very uncomfortable and cause irritation and even infection of the ear canal. The better analogy for vision is contact lenses.
